Thoughts of Pay Day Treats

Hello again dear blogsters. So, Friday was the best day of every month, the one which I count down the days to from the moment the next month begins, the Friday which will always put you in a good mood, that's right my friends, it was pay day! *Sigh* that moment I log onto my banking app and I feel like I've just won the lottery, I can accomplish anything on earth, I can buy what ever I want... and then it's the Monday after pay day weekend. I'm back at my desk, opening up my calender and physically counting down the days until the next one comes along. I've spent what feels like all of my money and i'm back to thinking of every little thing I can possibly think of which I can possibly do to save as much money as I possibly can! I'm like the woman off the channel 4 programme 'Super Scrimpers' if any of you saw that? You should watch it, a bit OTT, but some good tips all the same - if you like that sort of thing anyway!

Anyway, after reading so many beauty and fashion blogs, all I wanted to do was buy new things and treat myself for working oh so hard all month (or just reading blogs all day on my computer...). Of course, each pay day is the day when every bit of makeup I own decides that this is the day it no longer wants to be used and so runs out. I'm not complaining actually, I love buying new make-up, obviously there are the basics which I stick to no matter what but I always have to pick up something new and give it a go, it's a traditional pay day ritual (is what I tell myself every time the bill comes out at £40+!). So this is what i'm sharing with you today, my make-up buys and an extra treat in the style of some new converse!

My make-up must haves which I stick to always are Rimmel 'Lasting Finish 25 Hour' foundation and 'Stay Matte' powder also from Rimmel. These are my absolute favourites, they match perfectly together and literally do exactly what they say. The foundation is a lovely smooth coverage which is not too thick, yet still thick enough to hide away any blemishes or imperfections you might have. It works perfectly with the stay matte powder from Rimmel this offers flawless coverage when applied and it also leaves a lovely even finish. Some other powders I have tried in the past can sometimes be uneven and don't match well to the foundation base but this one is different, it's like it was made to be matched with this particular foundation. These are my trusty make-up side kicks and I don't think I would be half as confident in myself with out them in my bag, especially being someone who has suffered from acne basically their entire teenage life! If like me you also suffer from acne, I recommend giving this trusty combination a go and you will feel like a whole new person I assure you!

Next up, the eyes. This is actually the first time I've picked up this mascara. Usually I go for 'Falsies' by Maybelline however recently I have noticed that sometimes it can smudge under my eyes. I only realised this when someone commented asking if I had been in a fight...I thought this was a good time to try something new. So seeing as I go on about Rimmels face make-up being the saviour of my life, I thought I would give their mascara a try too.
So far, so good, it gives a good even finish to my eye lashes, it's not a very thick base which I do tend to prefer on my eyes, only because my eyes are the one part of my body which I am confident enough to say "yes, I like you!" so I like to try and make a statement with thicker mascara however I am liking this one. Even though it's not the usual thick base I prefer, it does make your lashes appear a lot longer and evenly spread, sometimes with the thicker bases eyelashes tend to clump up into one, I've not had that so far with this so that's always a bonus! I think it's down to an extra circular end to the brush which allows you to get right to the corners of your eyes, making them appear longer and more spread giving a lovely even finish.
Now, I know I said before that I like to make my eyes into a bit of a statement, however give me some eye shadow and a brush and I will end up coming out looking like I've just walked out of a circus. I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to get the hang of eye shadow, it just never wants to work for me. Maybe I've just not got the right technique...HEY! Maybe some of you lovely people could give me some beginners tips on how to apply eye shadow? Let me know!
Anyway, one thing I am fairly good at is the liquid eye liner 'Egyptian princess look' as my boyfriend likes to call it! I don't tend to wear it too much in the week, mainly because I'm working and don't have time to do it well enough in the morning (or that's just an excuse because I'm actually just too lazy...). The collection 2000 'Fast Stroke' is my favourite liquid eye liner. It's really easy to apply and very rarely smudges. The brush for this particular eye line is stiff so it doesn't move around too much when you're trying to apply it so if like me you have a bit of a shaky hand, it is a lot easier to apply instead of having a free moving brush like some of the others I have tried. Collection 2000 also have a waterproof version of this eye liner which is also very good however I find that this one doesn't actually smudge too much so I tend to just stick with this one.

For my pay day ritual tradition of buying and trying something new, apart from the mascara, I chose new 'Baby Skin Pore Eraser' from Maybelline. I have been after a pore minimising cream for a while now and this one is a great first choice! It allows you to use it as a foundation base as well as a foundation alternative. I have tried it over the weekend and it works wonders. I was initially surprised at first with the texture and base as it's like a gel type formula and was slightly greasy at first touch however my first impressions were soon shunned as again, it is another product which does what it says on the tin. As a foundation base it looks and feels great on the skin, to be honest there are probably better more expensive products around but as a cheap alternative I would definitely recommend.

Finally, my favourite pay day treat this month is my new converse. The picture doesn't do them justice but I love these as the colour is great, it's a grey/blue colour with obviously the red and white sole finish. If I had it my way, I would spend every day in converse (and vans). They are so comfortable as well as looking stylish and they are so versatile.I like to wear them in the summer with a summer dress but they still look great with casual jeans and tee! Sometimes I get a bit guilty buying shoes... or buying anything for that matter, but these were in the office end of season sale so that automatically removes any feeling of guilt what so ever, aren't I right girls?! Boy's just don't understand that, even my boyfriend has started telling me that "just because things are in the sale, it doesn't mean you have to buy them!" - The most typical and not to mention incredibly wrong statement to ever come from a boys mouth - although I do know he's only trying to save me money which is cute but still, THEY WERE IN THE SALE!

Before I go, here's a lovely selfie of me looking confident in all of my make-up pay day purchases. I love all of them and if you have any questions about any of them, or you are an eye shadow specialist and fancy giving me some beginners tips, let me know! Thoughts of spring/summer must haves 2014!

Today is Wednesday 26th March, I am writing about my favourite spring/summer must haves for this year and the weather outside is looking like we’re in the middle of October! Anyway, even though the weather at the moment really can’t make up its mind, we’re almost in April and spring/summer is fast approaching. I love the looks for spring/summer this year which is why I have got together some of my favourites to share with you.

Don’t get me wrong, I do also love winter. The big cosy jumpers which you can snuggle into and get lost in. Cold dark nights when little Christmas lights twinkle in the dark sky. The fireworks and excitement of a new year just around the corner... And then January arrives everyone is poor the weather does usually take a dramatic turn for the worst, the days are short and the nights are so long, the only time I get to see daylight is out of the window in my office and everyone is longing for the summer to arrive.
So when it does arrive, here are my top must haves for you to sink your teeth (or your eyes) into.

Pick One – Floral Prints
I have always been a big fan of all things floral and this trend never gets old. It always comes back each year and it just keeps getting better. Floral prints started out as being very girly however since the trend has progressed it has become more wide range appealing to different fashion styles.

I love this floral shift dress from Topshop. It really grabbed my attention as I love the colours and the impact of the print but yet it is such a simple stylish design.  I also love the mix of two fashion trends in one piece, black and white is a big trend this year from the winter and now carrying through to the spring/summer collection.
Now I do like to be adventurous and experiment with new trends in my style, I sometimes get those 'what is she wearing' looks from my friends but I like to tell myself 'it's just because their jealous!' and once i've got a glass of wine down my neck on a night out I can strut my stuff with extra confidence as if the world was my catwalk. However I do like to keep things simple from time to time and this style of dress (the shift dress) is one of my all time favourites. I love how it is so simple but yet so elegant and stylish. I also think this looks great on all body types, I have a bit of an hour glass figure and even with some of my curves (in the wrong places) it looks great and highlights the parts of my body which I actually do like! Just an all round great style, it can look great as a casual day time outfit with some stylish knee high boots or a beautiful evening statement piece which would look elegant and sophisticated with some gorgeous sling back heels, I just love it!

Pick Two – The Heeled Sandal
I am a big fan of sandals, whether they are heeled or flats. I loved the gladiator sandal when that was around and adding a heel on a sandal is a great idea, making them so elegant as well as the perfect accessory for a spring/summer outfit.

My pick is this beautiful Chanel sandal. These are the definition in my opinion of a heeled sandal. These beautiful elegant shoes are so stylish, making anything look stylish for the upcoming spring/summer season. I literally think you could wear these with trackie bottoms and still look beautiful, or at least still have beautiful looking feet!
I love the contrast of the materials on these particular sandals as well, the cotton white fabric which is pleated for that added chic look and then the solid shine added to the heel give it the extra elegant look for the high end working city woman. These are definitely something that are on my must haves for the summer although I will have to stick to the high street alternative unless I take out a mortgage.

Pick Three - The Tote Bag
Tote bags, what is there not to love about the tote bag? I absolutely love this fashion accessory. I think they are great for all year round if i'm totally honest as darker colours work well in the winter but the brighter coloured tote bag is a definite must have addition to any spring/summer look!

The only tote bag I could have picked is a Michael Kors. I actually don't think I have seen a bag more beautiful, no I would never be able to afford one unless my lovely boyfriend became rich and decided to treat me (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*) or I succeed in my dream of becoming a social network fashion blogging goddess!
This colour is great for a vibrant spring look, it would be amazing with an all white jumpsuit, some gorgeous heeled sandals and then this, the perfect statement. But it would work well with anything because of it's simple design making it so easy to match to any outfit, dress it up or dress it down it's elegant and glamorous as well as being so simple and classy.
I do truly love everything about this bag and is the perfect accessory to end my fashion picks for spring/summer 2014.

There will probably be more to come as the weeks go by and the sun does actually want to come out and play but for now, these are my favourites so far and in the words of Coco Chanel:

Getting my groove on, cats and my boyfriend are possibly my favourite things in life, oh and food obviously! I am a social media fanatic and do try to keep up to date with all the happenings of the world via social media.

This is probably going to put you off my blog but I'm not 100% certain of the purpose to my blog. It's basically my online diary of all my thoughts on life, well my life and little tips I might be able to help people with along the way. I'm one of those who has absolutely no idea where they want to be or what they want to do in life. I know i'm interested in fashion and makeup etc and I do dream of working in social media and marketing but, I'm sure like most of us, I have no idea where to begin!

I am simply inviting you to take part in my journey through life and, if you do have any tips of the trade or any advice of how to get started in the media world of work, I would be very grateful. Find me on twitter @Trixx_bg!

Anyway, this has been a fun journey to get to this point and I hope you stick around for future events. I really do believe that if life gives you lemons, definitely make some lemonade. Then I would recommend finding someone who life has given them vodka and go party!
