Anyway, after reading so many beauty and fashion blogs, all I wanted to do was buy new things and treat myself for working oh so hard all month (or just reading blogs all day on my computer...). Of course, each pay day is the day when every bit of makeup I own decides that this is the day it no longer wants to be used and so runs out. I'm not complaining actually, I love buying new make-up, obviously there are the basics which I stick to no matter what but I always have to pick up something new and give it a go, it's a traditional pay day ritual (is what I tell myself every time the bill comes out at £40+!). So this is what i'm sharing with you today, my make-up buys and an extra treat in the style of some new converse!
My make-up must haves which I stick to always are Rimmel 'Lasting Finish 25 Hour' foundation and 'Stay Matte' powder also from Rimmel. These are my absolute favourites, they match perfectly together and literally do exactly what they say. The foundation is a lovely smooth coverage which is not too thick, yet still thick enough to hide away any blemishes or imperfections you might have. It works perfectly with the stay matte powder from Rimmel this offers flawless coverage when applied and it also leaves a lovely even finish. Some other powders I have tried in the past can sometimes be uneven and don't match well to the foundation base but this one is different, it's like it was made to be matched with this particular foundation. These are my trusty make-up side kicks and I don't think I would be half as confident in myself with out them in my bag, especially being someone who has suffered from acne basically their entire teenage life! If like me you also suffer from acne, I recommend giving this trusty combination a go and you will feel like a whole new person I assure you!
Next up, the eyes. This is actually the first time I've picked up this mascara. Usually I go for 'Falsies' by Maybelline however recently I have noticed that sometimes it can smudge under my eyes. I only realised this when someone commented asking if I had been in a fight...I thought this was a good time to try something new. So seeing as I go on about Rimmels face make-up being the saviour of my life, I thought I would give their mascara a try too.
So far, so good, it gives a good even finish to my eye lashes, it's not a very thick base which I do tend to prefer on my eyes, only because my eyes are the one part of my body which I am confident enough to say "yes, I like you!" so I like to try and make a statement with thicker mascara however I am liking this one. Even though it's not the usual thick base I prefer, it does make your lashes appear a lot longer and evenly spread, sometimes with the thicker bases eyelashes tend to clump up into one, I've not had that so far with this so that's always a bonus! I think it's down to an extra circular end to the brush which allows you to get right to the corners of your eyes, making them appear longer and more spread giving a lovely even finish.
Now, I know I said before that I like to make my eyes into a bit of a statement, however give me some eye shadow and a brush and I will end up coming out looking like I've just walked out of a circus. I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to get the hang of eye shadow, it just never wants to work for me. Maybe I've just not got the right technique...HEY! Maybe some of you lovely people could give me some beginners tips on how to apply eye shadow? Let me know!
Anyway, one thing I am fairly good at is the liquid eye liner 'Egyptian princess look' as my boyfriend likes to call it! I don't tend to wear it too much in the week, mainly because I'm working and don't have time to do it well enough in the morning (or that's just an excuse because I'm actually just too lazy...). The collection 2000 'Fast Stroke' is my favourite liquid eye liner. It's really easy to apply and very rarely smudges. The brush for this particular eye line is stiff so it doesn't move around too much when you're trying to apply it so if like me you have a bit of a shaky hand, it is a lot easier to apply instead of having a free moving brush like some of the others I have tried. Collection 2000 also have a waterproof version of this eye liner which is also very good however I find that this one doesn't actually smudge too much so I tend to just stick with this one.
For my pay day ritual tradition of buying and trying something new, apart from the mascara, I chose new 'Baby Skin Pore Eraser' from Maybelline. I have been after a pore minimising cream for a while now and this one is a great first choice! It allows you to use it as a foundation base as well as a foundation alternative. I have tried it over the weekend and it works wonders. I was initially surprised at first with the texture and base as it's like a gel type formula and was slightly greasy at first touch however my first impressions were soon shunned as again, it is another product which does what it says on the tin. As a foundation base it looks and feels great on the skin, to be honest there are probably better more expensive products around but as a cheap alternative I would definitely recommend.
Before I go, here's a lovely selfie of me looking confident in all of my make-up pay day purchases. I love all of them and if you have any questions about any of them, or you are an eye shadow specialist and fancy giving me some beginners tips, let me know! Love,
Trixybelle xoxo
